Forebrain Evolution in Fishes

Organized by:
R. Glenn Northcutt and Mario Wullimann
University of California, San Diago USA and Ludwig-Maximilians-University, Munich, Germany

This satellite event is held in conjunction with the Annual Meeting of the Society for Neuroscience
(November 15-19, 2008, in Washington, DC).

This year’s Karger Workshop, made possible by the continuing support of S. Karger AG, was organized by R. Glenn Northcutt and Mario Wullimann in belated honor of Rudolf Nieuwenhuys’ 80th birthday, and in recognition of his tremendous contributions to the field of comparative neurobiology.  The Workshop, ‘Forebrain Evolution in Fishes’, will take place on Thursday and features six speakers who will review various aspects of forebrain organization in different groups of fishes. Additional information and the final schedule of talks will be emailed to JBJC members (and to anyone else on request) before the meeting.  Please contact Blinda McClelland (mcclelland@mail.utexas.edu) to be placed on the mailing list.

The speakers and the titles of their talks at the 2008 Karger Workshop are listed below.  The final Workshop schedule will be sent to the membership prior to the meeting and will be available at the registration desk during the Workshop.

Karger Workshop speakers and titles:

Segmental Organization of the Forebrain in Lampreys
